West Ham expert drops emphatic Mohammed Kudus verdict – ‘I’m not going to apologise for this’

West Ham United need more of the “energy” given off from Mohammed Kudus’ celebration.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie hailed the Ghanaian’s goal celebration, where he sits looking unbothered on advertising hoardings.

The 23-year-old is slowly but surely becoming synonymous with cool celebration, which he has broken out in goal-scoring appearances including against Wolves and Freiburg.

Amid West Ham’s tumultuous form this season, Kudus has been a standout after bagging eight goals and three assists in his opening months at the London Stadium.

McAvennie is keen to see his liveliness seep into Kudus’ teammates and made no apologies for loving the fact that it brings entertainment to the game.

“I’m not going to apologise for this – football is an entertainment sport,” he told Football Insider.

“The players are there to entertain the crowd and if you have a bit of banter with the crowd it’s brilliant.

“As long as it doesn’t go over the top, you’re not doing anyone any harm.

“Fans are there to pay good money to go and watch their team.

“I know Kudus celebrated in the away end, but if I was in the away end I’d think it was okay.

“He’s a great player, and sitting on the advertising hoardings was brilliant.

“It’s great to see all the players smiling. I want more of that because West Ham are a good team when David Moyes lets them play.

“They need more of that energy like we see from Kudus. It’s huge”.
