West Ham fans all say the same as transfer offer submitted for Taylor Harwood-Bellis

West Ham are pushing to secure the signing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The Hammers lack depth in the centre of their defence, and have now got the Southampton star in their sights as a way of fixing that issue for the second half of the season.

West Ham were linked with Harwood-Bellis last summer but were unable to get a deal over the line, and they now have renewed hope that a deal could be possible in the final days of the January window.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won back-to-back Premier League games, giving them fresh hope of surviving relegation, and are now aiming to add the finishing touches to their squad for the run-in.

West Ham fans make David Sullivan jokes amid Taylor Harwood-Bellis latest

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Everton are interested in Harwood-Bellis, but it is now West Ham who are the first to truly throw their hat in the ring for the centre-back.

The Irons made a bid for the 24-year-old on Friday evening, according to Sky Sports News via their X account, although the offer has since been rejected by Southampton.

The former England international has started 24 games for the Saints in the Championship this season, and it remains to be seen whether they will field any more offers regarding a potential Premier League return.

West Ham have seen their initial attempts to sign Harwood-Bellis knocked back, but news of their bid was yet another opportunity for fans to lay into their ownership.

The Hammers faithful took to X to make jokes towards their owner David Sullivan, who is notorious for being tight with his cash at the London Stadium.

One fan labelled the attempt to sign Harwood-Bellis as a “Sullivan classic,” while several supporters posted images referencing a lack of money from the West Ham chief.

Hammers have clear Mateus Fernandes sale plan

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that West Ham no intention of selling Mateus Fernandes any time soon, amid recent links with Manchester City.

The East Londoners shelled out £42million to sign the midfielder from Southampton last summer after their relegation from the Premier League, and would only consider a sale in the future if they had the chance to make a significant profit.

Fernandes is seen as a crucial part of Nuno’s side for the remainder of the current campaign, and he is also viewed as a player who the team could be built around in future seasons.

The Portuguese has emerged as a driving force for his team in the recent absence of Lucas Paqueta, and there is no chance that he will be allowed to leave before Monday’s deadline.
