West Ham fans fuming as ‘unbelievable’ Chelsea footage re-analysed

West Ham fans were furious after VAR failed to award them a penalty in their 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday (September 21).

Julen Lopetegui’s side suffered their third home Premier League defeat against Chelsea, leaving them in 14th after their opening five games.

Striker Nicolas Jackson scored twice in the first 18 minutes leaving the East Londoners with a mountain to climb.

After a disastrous start, Crysencio Summerville thought he had earned his side a lifeline after being pulled down in the box by Chelsea defender Wesley Forana.

Referee Samuel Barrott decided there wasn’t enough in it to award a penalty and VAR confirmed the on-field decision.

Cole Palmer then rubbed salt into the wound with a third goal just after half-time and Chelsea secured their third Premier League away win of the season.

West Ham hard done by with penalty decision

West Ham were big spenders over the summer, signing the likes of Summerville and Max Kilman but are yet to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

Fans took to X, formally known as Twitter, to let the referee and PGMOL know exactly what they thought about the decision.

In other news, Jean-Clair Todibo set for extended run in West Ham XI.
