West Ham fans furious with incident outside London Stadium: ‘Absolutely pathetic’, ‘This is a disgrace’

West Ham fans have fumed at their owners due to an incident that took place outside the London Stadium after their 1-1 draw with Man United.

The Hammers have been embroiled in a relegation battle for the majority of the season as their 14-year stay in the top flight threatens to come to an end.

Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed as West Ham’s new boss earlier in the campaign, and despite a tough start to his tenure, the 52-year-old has been able to turn their form around in recent weeks.

Victories against Sunderland, Tottenham and Burnley have pushed the Hammers closer to safety, and they looked set to move even closer to 17th-placed Nottingham Forest after Tomas Soucek made it 1-0 against United on Tuesday.

Nuno‘s side held on until Benjamin Sesko’s added-time equaliser saw the game end 1-1, and their supporters’ anger at the late draw was amplified by something that happened outside the London Stadium.

West Ham fan channel told to stop filming as incident caught on camera

The rocky relationship between West Ham supporters and their board, namely chairman David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady, has been well-documented over the last few years.

Things have worsened this season due to their on-field struggles, with regular chants against the board during matches and numerous protests against the Hammers’ ownership.

The disconnect has been clear to see, and another case of supporters being mistreated was caught on camera after their draw with United, as West Ham Fan TV were told to stop filming an interview by the London Stadium.

Host and co-founder Nicky Hawkins uploaded the short clip of an interaction with a steward to his X account, as he was told that he is not allowed to film outside the ground and repeatedly insisted that he has done so for the last 10 years without an issue.

Hawkins posted the clip alongside the caption: “Are you trying to silence us (West Ham)?”, and many fans rushed to his defence in the replies.

West Ham fans fume at fan channel saga – ‘Total embarassment’

The Hammers’ form has improved in recent weeks, but they are still under real threat of being relegated to the Championship, especially if Nottingham Forest beat Wolves on Wednesday night.

Sources have told Football Insider that West Ham’s valuation will decrease by £300million if they do go down, meaning their existing shareholders are unlikely to sell up anytime soon.

The majority of fans already want the likes of Sullivan and Brady out, and this latest incident has furthered their anger, with one replying: “This is a disgrace. Attacking freedom of speech now, as well as our club’s heritage. Things like this will only make us stronger. United we stand.”

Another added: “Absolutely pathetic that, but it also shows that the pressure is getting to them too!

While one said: “What has our beloved club become? Owners that are incompetent and corrupt yet try to flex their muscle if anyone dares to have the audacity to criticise them! We are a total embarrassment!!”
