'Man of the match' - West Ham fans herald unsung hero on Twitter after win over Tottenham

By Russell Edge

West Ham fans took to social media to sing the praises of goalkeeper Adrian after his heroics helped the Hammers on the way to an impressive victory over Tottenham.

Manuel Lanzini scored the only goal of the game to secure a 1-0 win for the Hammers over their London rivals, the result mathematically confirming their Premier League safety this season.

Lanzini’s goal also caused the hearts of Tottenham fans to sink as the defeat derailed their hopes of catching league leaders Chelsea and securing their first Premier League title.

It was an impressive performance from all the West Ham players, who managed to nullify the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen with an all action performance.

However, it was the man between the sticks who caught the eye of a number of fans, with his saves proving crucial to securing the victory.

Adrian made several important stops, including a trio of smart saves in the first half to deny Harry Kane and then Eric Dier.

Fans took to social media to celebrate the performance of the 30-year-old, who has now kept a clean sheet in each of his last three Premier League appearances.

Here are a selection of the fans’ messages from Twitter:
