West Ham fans were left raging on social media over the first half display of midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate in their clash with Everton on Wednesday night.
The Hammers travelled to Goodison Park to take on a Toffees side still managerless after sacking Ronaldo Koeman last month, with caretaker boss David Unsworth having seen his men thrashed 4-1 away at Southampton in their last outing.
David Moyes meanwhile guided his side to a 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Friday, but came into the clash on Merseyside two points and one place behind Everton.
However it was the home side who made the brighter start, Wayne Rooney netting a penalty after Joe Hart’s alleged foul, before netting again to give the Toffees a 2-0 going into half time.
His second strike came after he had escaped the attentions of West Ham’s Kouyate in midfield, with the 27-year-old failing to track back in order to stop the former Manchester United star from scoring.
The Hammers faithful were furious with what they saw in the opening 45 minutes from their powerful midfield maestro, and took to Twitter to voice their anger at his display.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
Ogbonna, obiang, kouyate & Cresswell all shocking sub standard players. Relegation will happen.

Everton have been excellent. Davies running the show. Lanzini, Kouyate and Obiang non existent and being given the runaround. Ayew not a striker.

Obiang and Kouyaté should hang their heads in shame. Bloody hopeless tonight, there is no attacking prowess in the team at all. Make no mistake we are in deep trouble and will be lucky to survive #WHUFC

I actually think I’m a better footballer than Kouyate

Kouyate absolutely lazy tracking Rooney. Unacceptable.

He has made 14 appearances across all competitions for the club this season, netting twice in 11 league outings.
In other West Ham news, Moyes has revealed which players he will try to sign when the transfer window opens in January.
