West Ham fans react on Twitter to Ayew return v Chelsea

By Harvey Byrne

West Ham fans were happy on Twitter after summer signing Andre Ayew was named on the bench against Chelsea.

The two London rivals are set to meet at the London Stadium on Wednesday evening in the fourth round of the EFL Cup.

Slaven Bilic has opted for a strong side with Darren Randolph and Aaron Cresswell the only changes coming in for Adrian and Simone Zaza.

Ayew, 26, was named on the club’s bench after picking up an injury in the season opener against Chelsea, which has kept him out of the team until tonight.

Fans were left happy on social media following the inclusion of the Ghana international, with many keen to see what the summer signing can bring to the club.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Ayew joined from Premier League rivals Swansea in the summer for a mega £20.5million price-tag.

He was a bright star for the Welsh club in their poor 2015-16 campaign, scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances and proving to be a big threat to Premier League defenders.

The Hammers will now be hoping for revenge against their rivals, following their 2-1 defeat against Chelsea earlier in the season.
