West Ham fans react on Twitter to Snodgrass display v Southampton

By Harvey Byrne

Robert Snodgrass played the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s victory over Southampton – and West Ham fans were delighted with his performance.

The 29-year-old Scotland international was handed his first start for the club on the south coast after making his debut as a substitute in the midweek 4-0 defeat against Manchester City.

He will have enjoyed the match at St Mary’s far more and he had a big say as West Ham ran out an emphatic 3-1 victory.

Goals from Andy Carroll, Pedro Obiang and a Steven Davis own goal put the east London club on to their win after Manolo Gabbiadini put the Saints 1-0 up early on.

Snodgrass didn’t trouble the score sheet himself, but a number of Hammers supporters on social media were very impressed with what they saw from him.

Many were also keen to pay attention to his fantastic work rate as the attacker never stopped running.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Snodgrass was a huge success at Hull, scoring 14 goals while providing 10 himself in 56 encounters and he will now be hoping to bring that with him to West Ham.

The east London side’s victory on Saturday afternoon has seen them claim the ninth spot as they sit five points behind West Brom in eighth.
