West Ham fans tear into Kalvin Phillips as Ipswich footage re-analysed

West Ham fans took to social media to revel in Kalvin Phillip’s misfortune after making a mistake in their 4-1 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday (October 5).

The 28-year-old took too many touches in the centre of the park before ultimately losing the ball, Jarrod Bowen then stormed down the right wing before finding an unmarked Michail Antonio.

Antonio’s first-minute goal was swiftly cancelled out by in-form Ipswich forward Liam Delap who bagged his fourth Premier League goal of the season.

Mohammed Kudus was in the right place at the right time to nod the home side in front, securing the East Londoners their first home win of the season.

Jarrod Bowen then got in on the act just after half-time, scoring his second goal of the season before Lucas Paqueta rounded off the scoring in the 69th minute to secure the three points.

Phillips was then jeered by West Ham fans as he was substituted after 74 minutes having completed just 27/34 passes.

The victory gives manager Julen Lopetegui a slight reprieve after an underwhelming start to life at the club, taking them into 13th after seven Premier League games.

West Ham fans laugh at Kalvin Phillips after mistake

On loan at Ipswich from Man City for the season, Phillips spent the second half of last term in East London but failed to make any kind of positive impact.

After failing to endear himself to the West Ham faithful, fans took to X, formally known as Twitter, to joke about the midfielder’s mistake.
