West Ham games Ollie Scarles could miss as Nuno Espirito Santo shares injury update

Nuno Espirito Santo could be without young defender Ollie Scarles for quite some time following his new injury update at West Ham.

Nuno has confirmed the seriousness of Scarles’ setback after the 19-year-old managed just 25 minutes during the 2-1 defeat to Leeds United, being replaced by Callum Wilson.

James Ward-Prowse has been completely snubbed by the new manager, but supporters are even more baffled after one of the club’s most exciting gems was started out of position two games in a row.

He had never featured at right-back before back-to-back games there against Brentford and Leeds, but it was a massive struggle as the youngster was clearly overrun by Premier League talents.

It had already been confirmed by the club that Scarles had undergone surgery on his shoulder, and now Nuno has touched on just how serious the setback is for the Hammers.

In a press conference, he said, “Oliver Scarles went into surgery yesterday, and it went well, but he is going to be out for a while. He won’t totally stop because he will be doing some kind of conditioning.”

Of course, it is difficult to put a time frame on his return, but adding a prediction for all supporters, injury expert Ben Dinnery has suggested that 27 December could be when he returns to the pitch.
