‘West Ham handed Robert Sanchez boost as Chelsea make Mike Maignan move’
West Ham have received a potential boost in their pursuit of Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez following new reports around the Blues’ interest in AC Milan stopper Mike Maignan.
The Hammers struggled to compete in the Premier League last term, as they finished 14th, and boss Graham Potter is set to be busy in the transfer market this summer as he aims to set his squad up for success next season.
They have already completed the permanent signing of Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice for £32.9million [The Athletic], while scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that the club will accept offers for Mohammed Kudus in the coming months.
The goalkeeper position is one that needs immediate improvement, after neither Alphonse Areola nor Lukas Fabianski managed to make the number one role their own under Potter last term, and with the latter set to depart at the end of his contract this month.
West Ham are believed to be interested in a move for Chelsea stopper Robert Sanchez, and they could get their man even sooner than initially expected with the Blues advancing on a move for AC Milan and France star Mike Maignan.

West Ham to accelerate Robert Sanchez advances as Chelsea claim emerges on Mike Maignan
Spaniard Sanchez struggled throughout the last Chelsea campaign and committed a series of high-profile errors, and so boss Enzo Maresca is now looking to sign a new keeper, with reports of the Blues’ interest in Maignan first emerging on Tuesday (3 June).
Chelsea are yet to bid for his services, with the two clubs apart in their valuation of his talents, but the Frenchman has reportedly told Milan that he wants to leave, and that Stamford Bridge is his preferred destination.
The Blues have now reportedly placed a bid worth €15million (£12.6m) for the 29 year-old’s signature [Fabrizio Romano], and The Sun have since claimed that Maignan is set to become Maresca’s number one if he signs for the club.
That will serve as a huge boost to West Ham in their plans to sign a new goalkeeper, with Sky Sports reporting that they have enquired about the potential availability of Sanchez this summer.
The 27-year-old will surely not want to stick around at Stamford Bridge as a back-up goalkeeper, and Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke recently revealed that Maignan’s impending arrival is likely to see the 27-year-old leave the club, so the Irons could be set to make an official approach soon.

West Ham are set for a huge summer window with key players set to come and go
Potter and the Irons’ chiefs are preparing for another big overhaul this summer as they look to compete higher up the table in 2025/26, following a Football Insider report in April.
Football Insider have also exclusively revealed that playmaker Kudus could depart this summer, while Tomas Soucek is of interest to the likes of Leeds United and Everton and the club will listen to offers of £10-15million for his services.
Players are leaving, but new signings will also arrive, and the Hammers have been linked with a move for Saint-Etienne striker Lucas Strassin in recent weeks, while they are also reportedly eyeing a deal for ex-Fulham man Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Football Insider revealed in April that head-coach Potter wants to be backed heavily in the transfer market this summer, and bolstering his depth in-between the sticks will be a priority with Areola and back-up Wes Foderingham as his only under-contract keepers for the new campaign.

Sanchez may well have struggled at Chelsea last season, but he was once bought by the Blues for a fee of up to £25m [The Guardian] from Brighton, and has strong Premier League experience with 135 appearances in the top-flight since 2020.
He is also only 26-years-old, which is young for a keeper, and would surely be a stellar signing for the club if he was able to rediscover his previous form.
