West Ham hatch new Danny Ings transfer plan – sources

West Ham are not currently pushing to sell striker Danny Ings before the 31 August transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

The Irons are light in attack as they continue to negotiate a deal with Aston Villa for 20-year-old Jhon Duran.

But it is believed Julen Lopetegui feels Ings still has something to give at the London Stadium and the former Southampton star could remain at West Ham even if Duran is signed.

The three-cap England international, who was wanted by Southampton earlier in the window, is into the final year of his contract with the Irons after signing for the club in 2023.

According to talkSPORT, Ings earns around £120,000-a-week – and sources say he is unwilling to take a pay cut to move away from West Ham.

Ings could now see out West Ham contract

The forward could therefore see out the remainder of his deal at the London Stadium and depart for free in 2025.

Ings made just seven starts in 30 total appearances for the Irons under David Moyes last season.

He managed just one goal in the 2023-24 campaign and has scored just four goals in total since signing for West Ham 18 months ago.

Michail Antonio is in a similar contract situation to Ings and Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (30 July) that the Irons won’t entertain offers for the 34-year-old unless a bid which is “too good to turn down” arrives.

Lopetegui and his squad face Aston Villa in their first fixture of the Premier League season on 17 August.
