West Ham ‘have the money’ to sack Julen Lopetegui straight away – top source
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted “money won’t be the issue” as West Ham weigh up whether to move forward with under-pressure boss Julen Lopetegui.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed there is “too much at stake” for the Irons in the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (17 November) that West Ham are beginning to create a ‘Plan B’ as pressure on Lopetegui intensifies.
The 58-year-old was only hired in the summer and is under contract until June 2026, meaning significant compensation will be due if he is sacked.
Lopetegui’s side sit 14th in the Premier League after 11 games despite spending lavishly on several new signings in the off-season.
West Ham can comfortably afford Lopetegui sack, says Wyness
Wyness claimed the London Stadium club is “not a particularly happy ship” at present.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think West Ham are comfortable enough to do this.
“There’s money at West Ham to sack Lopetegui, it’s just going to be about whether there is a will to do it so soon after he was given the job.
“It’s a complex club in terms of these decisions, with the sporting director under question as well.

“There are a lot of moving parts and it’s not a particularly happy ship.
“Money won’t be the issue when it comes to making a final decision on Lopetegui. There’s too much at stake with the Premier League.”
