West Ham in talks over £35m Nayef Aguerd deal – sources
West Ham are in talks with multiple clubs over the 35million summer sale of Nayef Aguerd, sources have told Football Insider.
Ligue 1 outfits Rennes and Lens are both working on permanent deals for the 28-year-old as he wants to return to France.
Sources say the Hammers are keen to sell the defender this summer but will hold out for their £35million price tag, having signed him for £30million just two years ago.
Football Insider revealed last month that West Ham were braced for Aguerd bids from Rennes and Lens, while fellow French side Lyon and Saudi Pro League clubs are also said to be interested.
West Ham entertain offers for Nayef Aguerd after official contact
Aguerd has made 58 appearances for the Hammers since arriving in 2022, but played just 28 times last season as his time at West Ham has continually been blighted by injuries and inconsistency.
Interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia has lingered since last summer, although the French sides have moved ahead in the race for his signature.
A return to former club Rennes has become a strong option for Aguerd as they are keen to bolster their defence ahead of next season.
However, the East London club hold the bargaining power over the possible sale despite strong interest from all parties, with his current contract running until 2027.

The Hammers are expected to use the £35million from his sale to reinvest in their first-team squad and will remain firm on their demand for their asking price.
This comes after former Hammers striker Frank McAvennie told Football Insider on 23 May that a widescale refresh of the defence would be necessary.
