West Ham in trouble after crushing Ben Johnson blow - pundit

West Ham will find it “very tough” to beat Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday (5 May) with major injury problems in defence, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed West Ham’s season will leave them frustrated as he tips them to be knocked out of the Europa League and finish seventh in the Premier League.

They are 2-1 down on aggregate against Frankfurt ahead of the second leg out in Germany.

Claret & Hugh reported on Monday (2 May) that Ben Johnson is a doubt for the game after he picked up a thigh strain in the first leg.

It means they will likely line up with a defence of Vladimir Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell.

“I don’t think West Ham will beat Frankfurt, to be honest,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Even if they did, Leipzig look like a very good team as well. I fancy either Frankfurt or Leipzig to win the Europa League.

“West Ham have done fantastic to come this far but they looked a bit short against Frankfurt.

“Frankfurt missed a lot of chances and so did West Ham but Frankfurt were playing away from home and still looked very dangerous going forward.

“With them at home, it’s going to make it very hard.

“It could end up being a frustrating season for West Ham. They could end up finishing seventh and go into the Europa Conference League.

“Next season they could be in a lower competition which will be frustrating. Thursday is going to be a very tough task.”
