West Ham key man facing spell on sidelines – report
By Matt Farr
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic faces a potential one-match touchline-ban and a fine for his outburst during the 2-2 draw with West Brom on Saturday, according to a report.
The 48-year-old was furious at referee Michael Oliver for a number of decisions that went against his side, and unleashed his anger by throwing a TV microphone on the touchline as West Brom grabbed a last-minute equaliser.
The Evening Standard report that Bilic could be set to land a touchline ban and a fine for his actions, with the FA set to review Oliver’s report on Monday.
Bilic was dismissed from the touchline for the final few moments of Saturday’s clash, but continued his onslaught after the final whistle, branding Oliver’s performance as “awful”.
The Hammers chief was already furious after West Brom’s opening goal, when he deemed Sofiane Feghouli to have been fouled in the build-up to Nacer Chadli’s strike.
The Croat’s assistant, Nikola Jurcevic, is expected to land a similar punishment, after his own dismissal earlier in the match.
Jurcevic left the Hammers’ technical area to protest the decision to disallow a goal from Feghouli for offside, and was subsequently given his marching orders.
If the FA chose to sanction the West Ham senior duo, the Hammers will be without their leadership for their upcoming Premier League clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
Gareth McAuley’s last-minute winner meant it was two points dropped for West Ham, which saw them fall to 10th in the Premier League.
In other West Ham news, Jamie Redknapp has delivered his verdict on Bilic’s outburst.
