‘West Ham leave takeover too late in major Graham Potter blow’
West Ham takeover speculation has once again ramped up with the club languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.
As per club insider ExWHUEmployee, via The West Ham Way (9 May), a wealthy American has been preparing to make an offer for David Gold’s shares of the club – with the family stake believed to be just over 25%.
David Sullivan, Daniel Kretinsky and Tripp Smith also own big stakes at West Ham.
Graham Potter succeeded Julen Lopetegui in January and Football Insider has revealed (14 May) that West Ham are preparing for another big overhaul ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed a potential takeover will come too late to affect West Ham‘s transfer budget.

‘West Ham need an injection of cash’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted West Ham need an injection of cash amid a slump at the London Stadium.
Potter’s side sit 15th in the Premier League table having won just 10 top-flight games this term.
Position | Team | Played | Points | GD |
13 | Everton | 36 | 42 | -5 |
14 | Wolves | 36 | 41 | -13 |
15 | West Ham | 36 | 40 | -17 |
16 | Man United | 36 | 39 | -11 |
17 | Tottenham | 36 | 38 | 4 |
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “If there is a takeover, it won’t happen in time for this transfer window in terms of extra funds.
“In terms of PSR, a lot of that will be solved if they reach a solution on the stadium.
“There could be a way for the city to sell the stadium to West Ham and for the new owner to then buy the stadium.
“But West Ham need an injection of cash.
“Sullivan has backed them, but they’ve just made bad decisions.
“They’ve backed several managers now and Graham Potter will want the same. He’ll be backed to a degree this summer, but of course – he’ll want more.”

West Ham set for extra £14m+ after confirmed news
Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (14 May) that West Ham are set to cut their wage bill by more than £14million after confirming several first-team players will leave the club.
They have announced Lukasz Fabianski, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the London Stadium when their contracts expire on 30 June.
Sources have told Football Insider West Ham will save around £14.3million per year once the four players leave the club next month.
