West Ham make Guido Rodriguez January transfer ‘decision’, offer will be accepted
West Ham are planning to accept offers for Guido Rodriguez during the January transfer window as he approaches the end of his contract.
That is according to former West Ham and Man United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 31-year-old is not part of Nuno Espirito Santo‘s long-term plans.
Rodriguez has played just 19 minutes since Nuno’s appointment in September, while Freddie Potts has impressed for West Ham and pushed him further down the pecking order.
Meanwhile, the midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and the Hammers would prefer to cash in rather than lose him for free.
While he has an optional one-year extension clause in his current deal, West Ham have no plans to extend his stay, and hope they will receive offers in January.

West Ham plan to accept Guido Rodriguez offer
West Ham plan to upgrade on Rodriguez in the January transfer window, to further strengthen Nuno’s squad and further their ambitions for the rest of the season.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the midfielder will be moved on in an attempt to raise funds which will be reinvested.
“West Ham are ready to let him go in January,” he told Football Insider.
“He isn’t part of the manager’s plans, and he hasn’t really been part of any of the manager’s plans since he went there, and there have been three of them now.
“The move just hasn’t worked for him, and unfortunately he’s not been good enough.
“There were high hopes for him coming in, but he fits into that issue West Ham have far too often, he just doesn’t make an impact on the pitch.
“When they play away from home against somebody like a Crystal Palace or a Newcastle, he’ll go missing from the start, and that’s not what they need.
“So if his contract is running out, they’re going to see what they can do in January and whether they can make some money off of him.
“Then they can use that money to go and bring somebody else in.
“If that interest isn’t there, then he’ll probably leave for free, because it would be a surprise if they kept him.”
West Ham plan to sign Rodriguez replacement in January
West Ham want to sign a replacement for Rodriguez when the window opens, as they are reluctant to lose any first-team players without filling the gap they leave.
As a result, they are already working on potential options to come in if they let Rodriguez leave.
The addition of a new midfielder is not currently on their list of priorities, however, with West Ham eyeing a new striker and centre-back ahead of the January window.

Football Insider revealed on 15 November that West Ham want to sign a new striker amid concerns about the long-term future of Niclas Fullkrug in East London.
Sources told Football Insider that West Ham will seriously consider offers for Fullkrug, who has endured a tough time at the London Stadium since his arrival in 2024.
