West Ham may be set for Jarrod Bowen windfall as '100%' claim issued - pundit

West Ham can demand more money for Jarrod Bowen now he has played for England, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Bowen should stay at the Hammers for another season ahead of the Qatar World Cup later this calendar year.

The 25-year-old made his long-awaited England debut in the 1-0 loss to Hungary last week (4 June).

He made his third appearance for the Three Lions in the 0-0 draw with Italy at Molineux on Saturday night (11 June).

Asked whether Bowen’s international experience will impact his potential transfer fee, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.

“Once you play for England your price goes up, there’s talk of the English tax.

“I think Bowen will be buzzing making his England debut.

“I still think clubs will look at him and think ‘Let’s see if you can do it again, can you do it next season?’ Then they may think about coming in for him.

“I don’t think it would be good for him to move now. It’s a World Cup season, he needs to be playing football. There’s no point signing for a club and sitting on the bench.

“If I was him I’d stay at West Ham anyway and do your best for West Ham.”

Bowen ended the 2021-22 domestic season with 18 goals and 13 assists in 51 games across all competitions for West Ham.

He was a key part of David Moyes’ side that reached the Europa League semi-final and finished seventh in the Premier League.

In other news, West Ham have made a move to sign an Everton star with 31 Premier League starts last season.
