West Ham move for Jean-Clair Todibo collapses – sources

West Ham United will not be signing Jean-Clair Todibo this summer after he rejected the chance to join them, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Nice defender favours a move to Juventus this summer.

At the start of the week, there had been optimism that the Irons would get a deal for the 24-year-old over the line.

But now it appears that a potential transfer to the London Stadium has completely collapsed as the centre-back is holding out in a bid to join Juventus.

West Ham had a deal agreed with Nice and were waiting for Todibo to make the move to London, but he wants to join the Serie A giants instead.

Juventus are now in pole position to sign him, which is a blow to the Hammers as a partnership between him and new signing Max Kilman would’ve been ready for the new campaign.

West Ham will look elsewhere after Jean-Clair Todibo snub

West Ham aren’t the only Premier League club to miss out on Todibo this summer, as Man United attempted to buy him earlier in the window.

The 20-time champions were unable to complete the transfer as UEFA blocked the move due to the fact INEOS owns both United and Nice.

As far as West Ham are concerned, the club are now having to look elsewhere for other targets due to Todibo having his heart set on Juventus.

Todibo isn’t the only defender the Irons are currently trying to sign though, as Football Insider revealed they’re interested in Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

United will make a “huge” loss on the right-back should he end up moving to the Hammers this summer.
