‘West Ham must look after Michail Antonio for life’ after medical update
West Ham United supporters have urged the club to look after Michail Antonio regardless of his future on the pitch following his road traffic accident.
The 34-year-old was involved in an accident on Saturday afternoon that led to him having surgery on a lower limb fracture, with the striker currently being monitored in hospital for the coming days as confirmed by the club.
It has led to questions about his future at West Ham as the veteran forward is out of contract at the London Stadium at the end of the season.
Antonio is a long-serving member of the Hammers squad, having been at the football club since 2015 when he joined from Nottingham Forest for £7million.
The Jamaica international has gone on to play 323 times for West Ham in all competitions, scoring 83 goals and providing 41 assists.
Antonio has been ever-present in Julen Lopetegui’s team this season, featuring in every single Premier League fixture to date.
West Ham fans want to see Michail Antonio looked after
The footballing world has been quick to rally around Antonio to provide words of support and encouragement, and the Irons supporters now want to see the club look after him in the long term.
West Ham supporters hope that the club “offers him a role” after his contract is up, even if he’s unable to play again due to his injury.
