Apart from posting pictures of himself in a bath surrounded by ducks and “stealing” a taxi, what exactly is Patrice Evra doing at West Ham?
Even by the Hammers standards, the Frenchman’s arrival at the club was a bizarre one and if the board have any sense whatsoever they will perform a massive u-turn by ripping up his contract.
The 36-year-old only arrived at the London Stadium in February after the left-back was sacked by Marseille for a kung-fu kick on a supporter.
It was thought that the experience the former Manchester United man could offer his teammates as they bid to avoid the drop would benefit a faltering side.
However, the Frenchman’s odd behaviour may actually be detrimental to the Irons.
Since leaving Old Trafford, Evra’s career has nosedived to the point where his displays on social media gain him more notoriety than his actions on the pitch.
In the two appearances he has made for the Hammers he has been part of a team which has conceded eight goals, dropping down to 17th in the Premier League table, just two points above the bottom three.
The 4-1 defeat last time out against Swansea was unforgivable for many reasons, not least for the 36-year-old’s display.
And after a week where a pitch invasion was topped by a poorly judged warm-weather training trip to Miami, seeing the defender show not a care in the world, will only serve to infuriate the throngs of West Ham fans.
The board must admit they made a mistake on this one and show Evra the exit door before it’s too late.
In other West Ham news, Hammers must unleash rarely seen £10m player after break as new lows are reached.
