Exclusive: Bent swipes at Gold & Sullivan after big reported West Ham update
It is “poor” from West Ham United chiefs David Gold and David Sullivan to have not agreed a new contract with David Moyes.
That is according to former England goalscorer Darren Bent, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Guardian revealed the Hammers hierarchy will wait until the end of the season before opening negotiations with the 57-year-old.
The West Ham moneymen’s rationale, explains the report, is that they are waiting until the campaign’s end take stock of their financial situation.
They are exercising particular caution because of the pandemic’s economic impact and both Moyes and the East London club’s decision-makers are believed to be laid-back about the situation.
But Bent believes that West Ham should have acted to secure the long-term commitment of Moyes already, citing the Hammers’ excellent campaign so far.
He told Football Insider: “Of course they should reward him. They’re 7th in the table, doing very, very well and probably going to finish somewhere around the top-eight.

“The fact that he’s out of contract in the summer, I think it’s quite poor on their part.
“But you do have to give Gold and Sullivan a little bit of credit. They’ve put their hands in their pockets and made some good signings, Soucek and Bowen, and it’s paying off as well.
“Obviously, Moyes deserves a long-term contract and hopefully they can get that sorted sooner rather than later.”
The Scot’s contract with West Ham includes certain performance-related clauses which could trigger a new deal if they are hit, says the Daily Mail.
This is his second stint at the London Stadium after six months in the 2017-18 campaign.
In other news, it can be REVEALED that West Ham have agreed a blockbuster new signing as star jets in for medical.
