West Ham news: Jarrod Bowen’s value may skyrocket within six weeks as Liverpool bid ramped up – pundit

Jarrod Bowen’s value to West Ham will skyrocket if he is called up to the England squad next month, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Liverpool may firm up their interest in Bowen if he thrives on the international stage.

The winger now has five goals in his last five Premier League games after scoring in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City at the weekend (13 February).

No other Englishman has more than his 16 top-flight goal involvements this season.

England are next in action when they host Switzerland at Wembley next month (26 March).

“He deserves a call up to the England squad,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“Players like him will deserve a call up just to see what his level is. They need to see what he’s like around the team, does he fit in? Does he stand out or does he look bad in an England squad?

“He deserves that chance and Gareth Southgate will give him that chance because there are a lot of wingers who are normally in the squad who don’t deserve to be in the next squad on recent form.

“From all the wingers available I think he deserves to be in the squad, definitely.

“Then clubs like Liverpool will look at him more. They will want to see him challenging against the best players in the world and that will put his price up even more.

“He definitely deserves it, he’s been outstanding. He’s continuing to score and get assists.

“The wingers who are usually in the squad have not been performing anywhere near him. There will be outrage if he’s not in the squad.”
