West Ham news: Pundit slams ‘disrespectful’ players as David Moyes speaks out on controversy
Paul Robinson has suggested West Ham manager David Moyes is right to warn his players against showboating.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs and England number one said “it is massively disrespectful” to showboat during competitive matches.
West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta and Man United’s Antony have been criticised for showboating this season.
As quoted by the Daily Mail (28 October), Moyes revealed he’s told his players to “be careful” regarding unnecessary skills.
Robinson does not believe there is a place for showboating in competitive matches.
“It is disrespectful to your opponents to showboat,” he told Football Insider.
“If you are doing a trick to beat a player, that’s fine.
“We have seen players doing keepy-ups and spins when there is nobody around. I’m 43 and I can do a few tricks, a few keepy-ups and a Cruyff turn in the garden when nobody is tackling me. It means nothing whatsoever. Apply your trade in the right areas.

“I think it is massively disrespectful to your fellow professionals. Everyone knows the quality of footballers these days.
“Save your skills for situations when it will help your team. Spinning around on the touchline when nobody is near you is just disrespectful. Get on with the game.”
