West Ham open preliminary talks over Reiss Nelson deal – sources

West Ham have opened preliminary talks over a deal for Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners are expected to cash in on the 24-year-old this summer despite him having been at the club since he was nine.

The Irons have made enquiries about him, and early discussions have been held regarding a potential transfer.

Football Insider previously reported Arsenal could accept a £25million offer for Nelson after Brighton have shown an interest in securing his signature.

The winger has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium, featuring only 15 times in the Premier League last season.

Nelson Is under a lengthy contract at Arsenal, with his current deal not expiring until 2027.

West Ham could utilise Nelson to bolster their attacking options

Last season, only Man United and Crystal Palace scored fewer goals than West Ham in the top half of the Premier League table.

The club is looking to address that this summer, with the team expected to be playing a more attacking style next season under new boss Julen Lopetegui.

Nelson has managed four goals and two assists across 49 appearances in the Premier League, while he thrived on loan at Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga earlier in his career.
