West Ham player ratings v Stoke: Worldie from Lanzini but 25-year-old disappoints

COMMENT

West Ham emphatically defeated struggling Stoke City 3-0 on their travels to the midlands, and lifted themselves out of the relegation zone in the process.

Hammers club legend Mark Noble opened the scoring in the 19th minute, as he calmly beat Stoke keeper Jack Butland from the spot.

Referee Graham Scott deemed Erik Pieters challenge on Manunel Lanzini to be a penalty, despite the replay suggesting the 24-year-old had dived into the tackle before contact was made.

Stoke never looked threatening to Adrian’s goal, despite having more shots than West Ham, not one of them was on target.

But it was the infamous Marko Arnautavic who put the nail in Stoke’s coffin, as he found the net in the 76th minute.

The former Potter had missed a portfolio of quality chances, but managed to beat Butland before being subbed off in the 79th minute for Hernández.

Substitute Diafra Sakho made it 3-0 as the Hammers put the game to bed in the 87th minute.

Yet another good result for David Moyes as he seems to be turning West Ham’s season around, but which players were the heroes today?
