West Ham ready Calvert-Lewin swoop after Everton twist – sources

West Ham could launch a bargain swoop for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin, sources have told Football Insider.

The Irons are keen on the 27-year-old but have been put off by Everton’s demands.

But in a new twist, Football Insider revealed on Monday (22 July) that the Merseysiders could now be forced to consider offers for their star striker following the collapse of their takeover.

Everton are desperate not to let Calvert-Lewin run down the remainder of his contract and leave the club for free next year.

A takeover would have given Everton the ability to renew the England international’s contract, which is set to expire in less than 12 months.

Sources say an exit for the England international this summer is now a real possibility.

Newcastle United also held an interest in the striker earlier in the window but stopped their pursuit after failing to agree a deal with Everton.

Sources told Football Insider last month (24 June) that Calvert-Lewin informed Everton of his desire to join Newcastle when the two clubs were in negotiations over a deal.

West Ham

West Ham are desperate to add a striker after struggling in front of goal in the 2023-24 campaign.

Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are currently on the books at the London Stadium but the club are yet to secure a long-term successor to big-money flop Gianluca Scamacca.
