‘West Ham ready for cut-price Kudus deal with Tottenham under threat of PSR breach’

Tottenham have been given a major boost in their search for a new winger with West Ham having made a decision over the future of Mohammed Kudus.

Despite ending their trophy drought with the Europa League title, a 17th place finish in the Premier League last season highlighted the need for Spurs to strengthen this summer.

Already, Thomas Frank has left Brentford to replace Ange Postecoglou as manager, although the club have been frustrated with their efforts to add some of their targets to their squad.

Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo favours a move to Man United over remaining in North London, despite his connection with Frank.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have apparently pulled out of the race to sign Ebere Eze from Crystal Palace amid interest from Arsenal.

But with a winger clearly on the agenda for Spurs, it looks as though they may now have one in their sights who could be an attainable target in the form of Kudus.

West Ham make Mohammed Kudus asking price decision

According to a new update from The Telegraph, Tottenham are now interested in signing Kudus from West Ham this summer.

The report states that although there is an £85million release clause for Premier League clubs in the his contract for the first ten days of July, Spurs are confident they can sign Kudus for “well below” that fee.

Meanwhile, an update from The Guardian has stated that West Ham will have to make some significant sales this summer, if they are to sign players without the risk of breaching PSR.

As a result, those at the club are resigned to the fact that selling the Ghana international is their best way of raising funds for manager Graham Potter to strengthen his squad in the transfer window.

It is suggested a fee of £60million could be enough to sign Kudus, and while West Ham would prefer not to sell to Tottenham due to the rivalry between the clubs, they are open to a deal to be pragmatic.

Tottenham should consider Mohammed Kudus deal

Football Insider Verdict

In some ways there would still be a risk to this deal for Spurs, given the Hammers man was far from at his best last season.

That does ensure that there is no guarantee they will get a positive return on their investment if they do sign the 24-year-old.

Even so, Kudus has plenty of top level experience, and at his best is a high quality player, meaning this could be a gamble worth taking for Tottenham, given they look set to miss out on other wide targets.

It had previously been suggested that Potter is excited about the transfer window at West Ham, but these updates around PSR are unlikely to help with that mood.

In the circumstances, the Hammers may now be facing a tricky summer where they are having to balance plenty of deals against one another to try and strengthen their squad while avoiding punishment.

That is not going to make it easy for them to get the players they need, which could be a concern with so many having left at the end of their contracts following a disappointing 2024/25 season.
