West Ham Sources: Significant Lopetegui update today
West Ham are not panicking about the future of Julen Lopetegui despite a slow start to the season, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that he has learned from club sources that the board are willing to be patient with the new boss and will not make any rash decisions over his position.
The Hammers have won just two of their first seven games so far, with just one of those coming in the Premier League amid what has been their worst-ever start to a season.
They have also lost all three of their Premier League home games for the first time in the club’s history amid building frustration in the stands.
However, there is recognition that their defeats have come against Aston Villa, Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool, rather than experiencing any shocking results.
After a busy summer transfer window, several of the club’s new signings are adapting to life in the Premier League, while the squad are still learning Lopetegui’s style.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 21 September that the boss is being backed by the club to achieve success after his new-look squad adapts to the changes.
West Ham board will not rush into Julen Lopetegui sack decision
Sources also say the board are reluctant to part ways with the boss after backing him so heavily in the summer transfer window.
Following his appointment as the new boss at the London Stadium, the Hammers spent £132.5million to assist with a large-scale overhaul of the playing squad.
The squad will be given time to gel, and inconsistencies on the pitch will be excused for a time while everybody adapts to the changes at the London Stadium.
It is accepted that the scale of the changes will take time to adapt, and the board are willing to be patient in trust that Lopetegui will eventually provide returns.
However, it has also been said that if results fail to pick up heading into the Christmas period, the board could be forced to make a big call.

The supporters at the London Stadium are beginning to grow impatient with Lopetegui, and fans have suggested he may already have lost the dressing room.
While the board are willing to stick by their man despite the mounting pressure, continued bad results and growing frustration in the stands could lead to his early dismissal.
In other news, fans are all saying the same thing about Lopetegui “sacking”.
