West Ham star makes hugely surprising claim about Tottenham defeat
By Russell Edge
West Ham goalkeeper Joe Hart has claimed that West Ham were as good as, if not better than, Tottenham in their 3-2 defeat at home on Saturday.
A first half double from Harry Kane and a Christian Eriksen strike put the North London side firmly in control before Javier Hernandez and Cheikhou Kouyate struck to ensure it was a nervy end for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The result fired Tottenham into the top four while West Ham were left in the relegation zone in 18th on goal difference, ahead of only bottom side Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
However, Hart, who joined the Hammers on a season long loan deal from fellow top flight side Manchester City in the summer, insists that the home side were equal to the performance of Spurs throughout their clash.
He told West Ham’s official website: “They’re one of the best teams in the league and we’ve given them a fight for the whole game.

“Whilst it was 0-0 I felt we were the stronger team.
“It’s not necessarily quality that’s beating us, it’s sloppy play and that gets punished.”
The England international’s comments will come as a surprise to many fans, with West Ham having looked off the pace at times against Spurs, with chances to test Hugo Lloris limited.
Most of their opportunities came within the final 30 minutes, with the visitors down to 10 men thanks to Serge Aurier’s dismissal.
West Ham’s next match sees them face up against fellow strugglers Swansea, while Tottenham have their Champions League tie against Apoel Nicosia on Tuesday, before taking on Huddersfield over the weekend.
In other Tottenham news, Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he does not know when a key player will be back.
