West Ham 26-year-old non-committal over new contract, PL rivals on alert – report

By Danny Wright

Michail Antonio has refused to commit his long-term future to West Ham, which will alert clubs like Chelsea ahead of a possible summer move.

Sky Sports reports that the star player has revealed he has not taken part in any contract talks at the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old added that he hasn’t made his mind up yet after rumours that Chelsea were looking to add the winger to their squad.

“Right now, nothing is really happening on the contract talks,” Antonio said to Sky Sports News HQ. “We’ll just see how things go.

“At the moment my head is not being swayed in any way. I just want to play my football and whatever happens, happens.

Asked about whether he will sign a new deal with the Hammers, Antonio simply responded with a non-committal: “We’ll see.”

The former Nottingham Forest winger arrived at West Ham in 2015 for a fee of £7million. He has also had spells at Reading, Southampton and Sheffield Wednesday in his career so far.

He signed a contract extension last summer which would keep him at the London Stadium until 2020.

He has scored eight goals this season, six of them with his head – more than any other player in the Premier League.

In September Antonio was called up to the England squad and again in October but failed to make an appearance for the Three Lions to earn his debut cap.

Antonio will be hoping he can help to push West Ham’s recent resurgence when his side take on Watford on February 25.
