West Ham: Stefan Borson predicts Crysencio Summerville in ‘fire sale’ after relegation
West Ham United are set to face demand for Crysencio Summerville following his outstanding recent form.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider there will be a “fire sale” at the London Stadium if the Hammers are relegated this season.
Summerville has been key to West Ham’s turnaround in form over the past couple of months, registering five goals in his past eight Premier League games.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have moved level on points with fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest and one point behind 16th-place Tottenham.
However, West Ham’s financial situation means they will struggle to keep the likes of Summerville even if they avoid relegation this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson discussed how the Irons’ finances will impact their chances of keeping Summerville.
“I think with West Ham it’s going to be a case of which division are they in and, therefore, what the fire sale looks like,” said Borson.
“If they stay in the Premier League, they’re going to have the same sorts of conversations that they have every season about whether they need either cash in from the shareholders or whether they need to sell a footballer.
Market Valuation: Core ‘Fire Sale’ Assets
| Player | Contract Until | Market Value (GBP) |
|---|---|---|
| Jarrod Bowen | 30 June 2030 | £42.0m |
| Mateus Fernandes | 30 June 2030 | £35.0m |
| Crysencio Summerville | 30 June 2029 | £31.0m |
| Jean-Clair Todibo | 30 June 2027 | £25.0m |
“The conversation with the shareholders obviously will be much easier if they’re in the Premier League and much harder if they’re not.”
How relegation will impact West Ham’s negotiating stance
Borson insisted multiple players will be sold if West Ham find themselves in the Championship next season.
“If they’re not in the Premier League, then there’s going to be a bit of a fire sale,” said Borson.
“It won’t just apply to Summerville, it’ll apply to other players and that will impact the price they get, clearly. Other clubs will try and leverage that position.

“I think he’s a player that there will be demand for, but the key for West Ham, as for Spurs, in terms of the summer is what division are they in.”
Summerville has registered seven goals and four assists in 27 appearances this season as he looks to help West Ham avoid relegation from the Premier League.
