West Ham ‘teetering over the edge after disastrous turn of events’, but here’s how they can get £40m deal done
West Ham are under serious threat of being relegated from the Premier League following a string of poor results.
West Ham were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium on 6 January, leaving Nuno Espirito Santo’s side seven points from safety.
That defeat followed West Ham’s 3-0 loss against bottom side Wolves, who hadn’t won a Premier League game all season.
The Hammers’ board now have a decision to make over their transfer business for the remainder of the January window.

West Ham told how many points they need to avoid relegation
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider West Ham’s “big problem” is their upcoming three games before the transfer window closes on 2 February.
The Hammers are set to take on London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea away from home either side of their clash against Sunderland at the London Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about West Ham’s spending plans, Borson said: “They’re two disastrous results against Wolves and Forest. I doubt they would have thought they were going to lose both of those games.
“They are seven points behind Forest. They’re teetering on the edge, right? They’ve got a choice. I mean, their big problem is they’ve got Chelsea away and Spurs away in the next three.

“Let’s assume that they don’t win those two games. They’ve got Liverpool away coming up as well. If they can’t win these games, they’re running out of games to get something like 22 points. It’s very difficult.”
How West Ham could agree £40m striker deal
Borson insisted West Ham should not spend further in the window if they lose their upcoming Premier League games.
“They must look at it and go, ‘We are a high probability of getting relegated’,” said Borson.
“In that scenario, I don’t think you do spend. But then you’ve been pulled in the other direction by fan protests and by the chance of maybe surviving and getting these 22 points and saying, ‘Well, look, we could maybe win six or seven games, and we’ll get the 22 points’.

“And that says, ‘Well, okay, if we can get six wins, then it’s worth spending £40m on a striker’.”
West Ham have already signed two new strikers this month, with Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe arriving for more than £45million combined.
