West Ham tipped for £60m Dominic Calvert-Lewin swoop after ‘crazy’ update – Everton idol

Kevin Campbell has insisted a move to West Ham would suit Dominic Calvert-Lewin “down to the ground”.

The former Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed his old side would be “crazy” to let the 24-year-old depart.

According to The Sun (26 March), Everton will sell Calvert-Lewin during the main transfer window – with West Ham and Arsenal said to be on “red alert”.

The Toffees reportedly demanded £60million for the striker’s services in January.

West Ham’s only senior striker at present is 31-year-old Michail Antonio – who has failed to score a league goal since New Year’s Day.

Campbell claimed the potential arrival of Calvert-Lewin could ease the pressure on the Hammers’ attack.

“Everton would be crazy to sell him, for me,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“But you never know, Frank Lampard could well have other players in his mind and could sell Calvert-Lewin to generate those funds.

“I think he’s a really good striker – and he’d suit West Ham down to the ground. They’re a strong outfit.

“Bringing him into the fold could release the players at the top end of the pitch. If they’ve got a focal point to play up with Antonio, then it unlocks a lot of possibilities.”

Calvert-Lewin has managed just three Premier League goals in a season dominated by injury.

The England international has made 11 appearances across all competitions.

West Ham

West Ham sit sixth in the Premier League and hopes of a top-four finish have all but vanished.

However, the Irons could still secure Champions League football by winning the Europa League.
