West Ham tipped to complete 'surprise' El Ghazi signing after source's reveal - pundit
Anwar El Ghazi could be a “good addition” for West Ham if they can complete a deal this month, according to Alex McLeish.
The former Scotland and Birmingham boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 26-year-old’s Premier League experience would be of value to David Moyes’ side.
This site exclusively revealed on 1 January that West Ham are plotting a January move for Aston Villa star El Ghazi, with the Midlands club willing to listen to permanent and loan offers.
The Netherlands international is under contract at Villa Park until the end of next season.
McLeish suggested the winger could provide much-needed squad depth at West Ham – with the Irons still fighting on three fronts this term.
“He could be a good squad player for them,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.

“However, I can’t see him starting every week.
“He’d be a good addition to that West Ham squad, especially with him being an experienced Premier League player now.
“I didn’t realise he was still so young at 26, wow, that’s a surprise – I thought he was into his thirties.
“With that experience, he could be a great option for Moyes.”
El Ghazi is yet to start a Premier League game for Aston Villa since the arrival of Steven Gerrard in November.
The former Ajax man has netted one and assisted one in nine appearances in the top flight this term.
West Ham sit fifth in the Premier League and are set to take part in the Europa League knockout stage next month.
The Irons are also set to take part in the FA Cup and face a third-round clash against Leeds on Sunday.
