West Ham tipped to sign Said Benrahma replacement after £35.5m deal agreed - pundit
West Ham need to sign an upgrade on Said Benrahma after completing a deal for Gianluca Scamacca, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed the Hammers may only finish midtable if they do not improve on their attacking options.
Sky Sports reported last week (28 July) that Scamacca had moved to the London Stadium from Sassuolo for a £35.5million fee.
He is David Moyes’ fourth signing of the summer after Alphonse Areola, Nayef Aguerd and Flynn Downes.
Asked what West Ham’s next move in the transfer window should be, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “For me, when I look at them I look at [Jarrod] Bowen and [Michail] Antonio as their main attacking threats.
“[Manuel] Lanzini, [Pablo] Fornals and Benrahma, are, for me, OK players but they are not going to take West Ham to the next step.

“It depends on where West Ham want to be. Declan Rice is not going to be there forever.
“I’m looking at them and thinking ‘They’re an OK side, top eight would be a good season for them because I don’t think they are getting anywhere near the top four again’.
“That ship has sailed, teams have gone past them now. I think it’s going to be a reality check for West Ham fans.
“You’ve had your chance at top four, missed out and are now in the Europa Conference League which may take a lot out of the side with the games being Thursday-Sunday.
“Next season, West Ham will finish between eighth and 10th, to be honest.”
