West Ham to complete ‘six’ new signings in stunning spree – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed West Ham will make “six” first-team signings this summer after appointing Julen Lopetegui.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the Spaniard, 57, will have been made “promises” by the Irons.
18-year-old winger Luis Guilherme has already joined West Ham from Brazilian side Palmeiras in the opening stages of the window, while back-up goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has joined on a free transfer.
Football Insider has also revealed that Max Kilman will complete his Irons move on Friday (5 July) after Wolves accepted a new £40million bid for the defender.
The London club finished ninth under former manager David Moyes in the 2023-24 campaign.
West Ham squad ‘needs six new signings’, says Wyness
Moyes often complained of a lack of transfer backing from the West Ham board, and Wyness claimed the squad now “needs” six fresh faces at first-team level.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It seems strange. Moyes had a certain level of stability in the squad, but it was never really the level he craved.
“There were always a couple of disappointing signings who failed, players like Haller.
“They’ve had a few.
“I think it’s about right that Lopetegui will get as many as six new signings, from what I hear, and I think the squad needs that.
“We’ll have to wait and see, but if he’s going to make his mark then he needs his own squad, quickly.

“Six players is what he needs, and they need to move quickly.
“Lopetegui will have been made promises when he came into the club. We’ll have to watch now how they make their moves.”
