West Ham to sign striker and winger as Lucas Paqueta news confirmed – expert
West Ham will look to sign a striker and a winger in the summer transfer window after Lucas Paqueta was charged with breaches of betting rules.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers striker Frank McAvennie explained he had heard the club would look to sign a striker, while a winger could arrive to replace Paqueta, 26.
This comes after Kieran Maguire told Football Insider that Paqueta’s charges are “disastrous news” for West Ham as he could be banned from football altogether.
McAvennie also suggested that Julen Lopetegui will wait until pre-season to assess his squad, but could look to bring in a target man and a winger to cross the ball as he looks to change the style.
West Ham target two new signings after what expert heard
Football Insider previously reported that the Hammers are confident of completing four new signings in the next month as the new boss goes on a spending spree.
McAvennie insisted two of those signings will be a winger and a striker, with improvements needed all over the pitch and strength in depth becoming more important.
“They might be looking just in case something happens with Paqueta,” he told Football Insider.
“That might be why Lopetegui is looking at wingers. They need a winger.
“They got rid of Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals, but they were good players. You need a big squad these days to compete.
“I’ve heard they’re going to bring in a striker. You never know, Lopetegui might want two up front with Antonio and Bowen.

“We’ll see what he does in pre-season but he might want a target man if he’s looking to bring wingers in who like to cross the ball.”
In other news, West Ham are set to complete a signing after agreeing personal terms.
