West Ham told to sign ‘new Lingard’ for bargain price as pundit ‘wowed’ by update today

Danny Mills has claimed West Ham would be the ideal destination for unwanted Tottenham star Dele Alli and they could sign him on the cheap.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Leeds United and England defender suggested Dele could have a similar impact that Jesse Lingard did at the London Stadium last season.

Lingard scored nine times in 16 Premier League appearances for West Ham last season after moving on loan from Man United in January of this year.

West Ham

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider today (16 December) they are willing to let Dele leave during the January window as he does not feature in manager Antonio Conte’s plans.

The 25-year-old could leave the north London club on a loan, loan-to-buy or permanent deal.

“Could West Ham get hold of him?” Mills asked Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“A little bit like Lingard. With David Moyes, you think ‘Wow, look what Moyes did to Jesse Lingard’.

“If Dele Alli is prepared to work hard then there is no better manager than David Moyes.

“They need that sort of player, they need that sort of attacking player in their ranks. That would be a good move.

“Newcastle? Is he going to get enough of the ball? Is he going to get frustrated by that?

“I would suggest West Ham. He wouldn’t have to move house.

“If I was West Ham I’d be having a serious look at him. Of course, he’s got to be right and his attitude has got to be right but that would be a decent move for both if they can make it work.

“Just go on loan for the rest of the season. There are some good coaches at West Ham and they are in good form.

Tottenham

“If you could bring Dele Alli off the bench to supplement Antonio, why wouldn’t you?

“You could probably get him out relatively cheap too.”

In other news, West Ham have made an approach to sign a striker and £16m could seal the deal.
