West Ham told to ‘take the hit’ and accept Nikola Vlasic offer – pundit

Kevin Campbell has insisted West Ham will have to “take the hit” and let Nikola Vlasic go for a cut-price in the coming transfer windows.

The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the on-loan 25-year-old has no future at the London Stadium despite refinding his form in Serie A.

According to West Ham insider ClaretandHugh, reports suggesting Torino may be priced out of a permanent move for Vlasic are false as the midfielder’s buy option stands at just €13million (£11.3million).

The Irons signed the Croatia international just last summer (2021) for a reported initial fee of £25.7million.

He netted 12 goals and six assists for CSKA Moscow in the 2020-21 campaign to earn a return to the Premier League after he flopped at Everton earlier in his career.

But the attacking midfielder managed just one goal and two assists in 31 outings for West Ham, and David Moyes wasted no time in shipping him out.

Campbell suggested the Hammers are not the only top-flight club who will have taken a financial “hit” on a “risky” transfer.

He told Football Insider: “You’re going to have to take the hit here.

“His future isn’t at West Ham.

“Sometimes you just have to take it on the chin. When you’re signing foreign players, or indeed any player, it’s a risk.

“Sometimes it can work out, sometimes it doesn’t – every club has had to take a hit on a big transfer like this at some point.”

West Ham

West Ham have added Maxwel Cornet and Lucas Paqueta to their midfield ranks to compensate for Vlasic’s exit.

Moyes’ side sit 13th in the Premier League.
