West Ham told to U-turn on Arnaut Danjuma after source’s update – Campbell

Kevin Campbell has suggested West Ham should reignite their bid to sign Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker pointed out that the Hammers “have not been splashing the cash” in recent windows.

West Ham were in advanced negotiations over a deal for Danjuma last week.

However, an Irons source told Football Insider (1 July) that David Moyes blocked his club from completing a deal.

Danjuma is not at the top of the manager’s list of forward targets.

Therefore, the transfer is now on hold while other attacking targets are prioritised.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said: “Danujma isn’t proven in the Premier League but he’s a top player.

“When club’s come for players and player’s agents put down what they want and the club turns around and says, ‘We want you but that is heavy.’ Listen, that is the going rate. If you want the player, pay it. If not, move on.

“If Danjuma is your first choice, everything else would have been a downgrade but if he is not, fine.

“The thing is, West Ham have not been splashing cash left, right and centre. Let’s be honest, they haven’t.

“If they want Danjuma, pay the money and get him. I don’t know if it is astronomical but you’d think there is a negotiation to be had.”

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed mystery West Ham deal is ‘built on foundations of sand’ as new details emerge.
