West Ham turn to ‘Plan B’ as Lopetegui pressure intensifies – sources
West Ham are beginning to create a ‘Plan B’ as pressure on Julen Lopetegui intensifies, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 58-year-old is “bang under pressure” at the moment after the tough start to the season.
The Irons were one of the biggest spenders in the summer transfer market with the hierarchy opting to financially back their new manager, but they have yet to reap the rewards of that decision.
West Ham currently sit 14th in the Premier League table and have won just three of their opening 11 fixtures which has seen pressure mount on Lopetegui.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that David Sullivan is keen to stick with Lopetegui and give him time to become a success at the club, but he is also putting together a backup plan if results don’t improve.
The Hammers have several tricky fixtures coming up, with Newcastle United and Arsenal being their next opponents.
West Ham must turn things around in the next few games for Julen Lopetegui‘s future
Even though West Ham’s next two fixtures are tough, they are then followed by games against Leicester City, Wolves, and Bournemouth.
The upcoming run of five games after the international break are set to be crucial for Lopetegui’s future.

Lopetegui is under contract at West Ham until June 2026, with an option for a 12-month extension if the club wants.
Football Insider previously confirmed that there is a “Lot of unhappiness” behind the scenes at the club, with a drastic turnaround essential.
