West Ham ‘want to sell Crysencio Summerville’ after ‘surprising’ Tottenham twist emerges
Crysencio Summerville has been in excellent form for West Ham despite being linked with a move away from the London Stadium.
Summerville scored in West Ham’s 3-1 victory over Sunderland on Saturday (24 January), ensuring he’s now found the back of the net in each of his past three outings.
However, it has emerged Tottenham have made an approach to sign Summerville as they look to improve their attacking options this month.
GiveMeSports’ Ben Jacobs reported on 21 January Spurs have made a “surprise” enquiry for the 24-year-old, who the Hammers value at around £25million.
That move came just days after Summerville got on the scoresheet in West Ham’s 2-1 victory over Tottenham in north London.
West Ham told to avoid Crysencio Summerville sale after Tottenham swoop
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Summerville appears to have the look of a player West Ham “want to sell”.
The Hammers are fighting to avoid relegation to the Championship, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side currently five points from safety.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Tottenham’s move to sign Summerville, Borson said: “Well, I think it’d be surprising if West Ham were trying to sell anybody. I think the question for West Ham is do you want to strengthen to try and avoid relegation?
“The win last weekend against Spurs obviously is a bit of a game changer in that it brings them right back into the mix. But as we talked about, the number of teams that they can finish above are diminishing.

“I can’t see how they’re in a position to sell one of their better players in January, especially given the situation with Paqueta, so I’d be really surprised if the Summerville deal happens, but it’s got the look of a player for some reason that they want to sell.”
How much would Summerville be worth if West Ham are relegated?
Borson insisted Summerville would still be worth £25m in the summer if West Ham were to be relegated this season.
“It’s very hard to understand why you would want to rush him out in January,” said Borson.
“You might as well just wait until the summer, especially for the fee that’s been talked about. It doesn’t seem to make any sense at all. It’s not like you’re getting much, I think they’re talking about £25m.

“I mean, if you don’t sell him now, you’re not going to lose anything. His value is going to be £25m in the summer, so I don’t really understand it.”
West Ham signed Summerville for around £25m plus add-ons from Leeds United in the summer of 2024.
