West Ham work on two striker signings – sources
West Ham United are working on deals to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran and Villarreal’s Alexander Sorloth, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Villa and Spanish club strikers are the two main forward targets for the Londoners.
The Irons are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer, and both men are seen as ideal candidates for the club.
West Ham could face competition in signing Duran, who is believed to be frustrated with his lack of game time at Villa Park, as other Premier League sides are monitoring the 20-year-old.
The Irons have enquired about Sorloth, but Villarreal are reportedly holding out for £32million for the 28-year-old.
Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah is also on West Ham’s list, but the £20-25million rated striker isn’t high up on that at the moment.
West Ham view Duran and Sorloth as answers to their attacking problems
The Hammers were the third-lowest scoring team in the top half of the Premier League last season; therefore adding further attacking quality is seen as a way to address that issue.
Sorloth thrived in La Liga throughout the 2023-24 campaign, scoring 23 goals in 34 appearances and providing six assists.
The Norway international also boasts Premier League experience from his spell at Crystal Palace, although he never scored.
Duran has scored five goals in the English top flight, all of which came last season as he made 23 appearances for Vila.

Another striker that the Irons are focusing on is Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who could be set to exit Goodison Park this summer.
