West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville sends message to ‘lil bro’ as signing confirmed

Crysencio Summerville welcomed an incoming transfer to the Premier League just one summer on from his arrival at West Ham.

The 23-year-old joined the Hammers on a £25million deal from Leeds United [BBC Sport], but it has been far from a smooth ride for the winger after sustaining a season-ending injury in January.

He has made just 22 appearances for the East London side, picking up his injury in Graham Potter‘s first match in charge, only managing to notch one goal and two assists in that time.

Nonetheless, Summerville is working tirelessly to return to full fitness for the 2025/26 campaign, and his injury has certainly not dampened his mood since making the step up to the Premier League.

With that in mind, the player is extremely excited to welcome Brentford‘s new star to the Premier League, with whom he has had experience during his time in the Feyenoord academy.

Brentford announce Antoni Milambo transfer

Taking to Instagram stories (3 July), Summerville wrote: “Welcome to the Premier League, lil bro. It’s go time,” reacting to the Bees’ latest signing at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The 20-year-old arrives from the Netherlands following a sensational season for Feyenoord, having notched seven goals and seven assists in 42 appearances.

Graham Potter to welcome back injured West Ham stars

Football Insider verdict

Summerville is working his way back to full fitness for West Ham, and until Potter has the full squad at his disposal, it seems harsh to judge his tenure at the London Stadium so far.

And while there is no clear plan for Michail Antonio at West Ham currently, the Jamaica international has returned to the pitch following his devastating car crash back in December.

According to The Athletic (27 June), no significant progress has been made in terms of a new contract with the Hammers, with all signs pointing towards the striker finding a new club.

This marks the start of a whole squad rebuild by the new manager, with several of the current squad members letting down the side last season and mainly becoming a frustration for the fans.

Stefan Borson told Football Insider that West Ham will be aiming to rebuild the team this summer, with transfer rumours beginning to swirl around the London Stadium.

It has been a very difficult start to life in East London for Potter, but until he has a full summer transfer window under his belt, judgment needs to be held back for the former Brighton and Chelsea figure.
