West Ham’s Emerson reacts to Andreas Pereira’s Fulham message after Man United win

Andreas Pereira received a message from West Ham defender Emerson Palmieri as Fulham knocked Man United out of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Marco Silva’s side looked well on their way to the FA Cup quarter-finals when Calvin Bassey nodded home his first-ever goal in the competition, only to be pegged back by Bruno Fernandes in the second half.

The two teams could not be separated by 30 minutes of extra time, either, with Bernd Leno eventually standing out as the hero in a penalty shootout at Old Trafford on 2 March.

The German denied Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee, with the striker already linked with a Man United exit, sending the away fans into pandemonium.

While Pereira did not take one of Fulham’s five spot-kicks, he was integral to his team’s performance throughout the 90 minutes and extra time, sending a message to his former club.

Taking to Instagram [2 March], Pereira wrote: “Job done at Old Trafford! See you in the quarter-finals. Fulham, WE MOVING,” with white and black hearts and a handshake emoji.

West Ham’s Emerson and Cottager Harry Wilson liked the post, while Rodrigo Muniz commented with love-heart emojis and Carlos Vinicius shared a graphic of Pereira in the comments.

Marco Silva continues incredible form at Fulham

Football Insider verdict

Silva, who is being admired by those at Tottenham as a successor to Ange Postecoglou, has the potential to lead the Cottagers to success, but their shortcomings in the Premier League have been disappointing.

Since winning promotion back to the Premier League in 2022, Fulham have finished 13th and 10th in the table, but are pushing for their best standing, currently sitting in ninth.

Fulham are fighting for a spot in European competitions.

With just five points separating them from fourth-place Man City, there is a real chance of Fulham finishing the season in a European spot, but that might not be a worry if they continue to progress in the FA Cup.

Coming up against Crystal Palace next, who could be without Jean-Philippe Mateta following a massively controversial moment versus Millwall, the semi-finals might be calling their name.

Fighting for titles is exactly where the Cottagers want to be under Silva, but until the team can deliver more consistency, fans will just need to live for the moments such as their FA Cup win against Man United.
