West Ham’s new signing plan revealed after deal collapses – sources

West Ham have turned their attention to new central midfield targets after losing out on Yousouff Fofana, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers had been targeting the AS Monaco star, but he rejected their proposal.

Fofana prefers a move to AC Milan instead, and talks are advanced between the French and Italian clubs.

It has left the Hammers searching for other options to bolster Julen Lopetegui’s central midfield for next season.

Sources say that West Ham are currently looking at central midfielders in the £15-25million bracket.

With nine goals and 16 assists across 173 Ligue 1 appearances, Fofana would’ve been a strong addition to the West Ham squad.

The Irons are not the only club that will miss out on Fofana, as Football Insider previously revealed that Tottenham were also interested in him.

West Ham will continue to search for a central midfielder to help their new style

The focus now turns elsewhere as the Irons will focus on new options to bolster their midfield.

Lopetegui wants to bring the Hammers a more attacking style of play this season, and bringing in players capable of delivering that will be vital.

The club have already signed Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme this summer to strengthen the squad.

The Hammers are also focusing on improving their defensive options, with Lopetegui pushing for a new right-back.

Football Insider revealed that the club have made contact with Man United over Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
