What Aston Villa games Tyrone Mings will miss as fresh injury update revealed
Aston Villa fought back from a goal down against Fulham to earn their first win of the Premier League season on Sunday.
Aston Villa ran out 3-1 victors over Fulham, but the game wasn’t without incident, with Raul Jimenez going off injured for the visitors early on, and Tyrone Mings following suit for the home side just minutes later.
Joshua King wanted a penalty for a foul from Emiliano Martinez that would have given Fulham the chance to take a 2-0 lead, but the claim was waved away.
Ollie Watkins went on to open his account for the season before a quickfire double from John McGinn and Emiliano Buendia gave Aston Villa a win ahead of facing Feyenoord in the Europa League.

Tyrone Mings set to return after the international break
Mings was replaced by Pau Torres in Villa’s backline, with the 32-year-old defender looking distraught on the bench after coming off.
Villa insider Jacob Tanswell has now reported that Mings suffered from an ankle injury that looks set to keep the defender sidelined for at least two games.
Tanswell wrote on X, saying: “Tyrone Mings expected to return following the international break […] Further tests were undertaken once swelling had reduced.”
Aston Villa will be glad to see the international break approach as it will give Mings more of a chance to ramp up his fitness ahead of a suspected return.
Mings set to miss Aston Villa’s trip to Feyenoord
Mings will first be sidelined as Emery’s side head to the Netherlands to take on Feyenoord in Rotterdam on Thursday.
Feyenoord have made an unbeaten start to the new campaign, winning six of their opening seven Eredivisie matches.
Meanwhile, Emery’s side are now on a two-match winning streak, having bettered Bologna 1-0 before their 3-1 win over Fulham.
Emery will hope his side can continue their momentum into a tough clash in Rotterdam before their next Premier League trip.
Mings also out for Aston Villa against Burnley
Tanswell’s report also suggests that Mings is now set to miss Villa’s meeting with Burnley next Sunday as well.
Burnley have struggled on the road this season, picking up no points away from home, despite their positive start.
Emery will know his side can’t afford to drop early-season points to Burnley, as they look to steer themselves away from the drop zone.
Mings set to return for Aston Villa’s trip to Tottenham
The Athletic’s Tanswell finished his report by suggesting the club are aiming for a return against Tottenham for Mings.
Villa travel to Tottenham on 19 October, giving Mings a full three weeks to recover from his injury before returning to action in the capital.
Aston Villa’s upcoming fixtures | Date | Competition |
Feyenoord vs Aston Villa | 2 October | Europa League |
Aston Villa vs Burnley | 5 October | Premier League |
Tottenham vs Aston Villa | 19 October | Premier League |
Go Ahead Eagles vs Aston Villa | 23 October | Europa League |
Aston Villa vs Manchester City | 26 October | Premier League |
A quick turnaround after that game sees Emery’s side head back to the Netherlands to face Go Ahead Eagles, before welcoming Manchester City four days later to Villa Park.
Emery will hope Mings makes a full recovery ahead of the Spurs game, but there is also a likelihood that the Englishman could miss up to three games out due to the fixture congestion Villa face after the international break.
