‘What I’m hearing’ – Jobe Bellingham to snub Premier League giants in favour of incredible Sunderland return

Jobe Bellingham could reject a move to a Premier League giant in order to complete a sensational return to Sunderland in January.

Bellingham completed a switch from Sunderland to Dortmund in the summer, for an initial fee of £27.8million.

The 20-year-old has had a tough time in Germany and has started just two Bundesliga games for Niko Kovac’s side so far this season.

There are now rumours swirling about whether the midfielder could be in line for a return to England.

Jobe Bellingham would not fit in at Man United

On Wednesday (22 October), Football Insider exclusively revealed that Bellingham could be set to leave Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the England Under-21 international could be returning to Sunderland, just six months after his exit.

Bellingham has been linked with the likes of Manchester United, as his Dortmund future hangs in the balance.

However, speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness revealed that, according to his sources, the youngster could be moving back to Sunderland on loan.

Wyness added that Bellingham would not fit in at Man United, whereas a temporary switch to the Stadium of Light makes the most sense.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I don’t see Bellingham to Man United going anywhere. The only thing that I’m hearing that could possibly happen is a loan back to Sunderland.

“That might make the most sense of all. It’s where he’d feel comfortable and try and get things back on track. He’s not had the best start to the season, and I think that would make sense for him and for Sunderland.

“They’re an attractive team right now, and the manager is doing a great job; the owner is doing well. It’s an encouraging start for them.

“Bellingham might do well to come back to somewhere he’s well received and get the confidence of playing Premier League football in a decent set-up.

“That’s what I’m hearing is a potential loan move back to Sunderland rather than anything like Man United, where I don’t think he’s the right fit there at all.”

Bellingham attracting Premier League attention

Sunderland and Man United are fair from the only sides linked with the former Birmingham City man.

Football Insider revealed in February that Crystal Palace and Tottenham scouts were also tracking Bellingham, before his transfer to Dortmund.

If he is to make the move back to England, then the 20-year-old will have a number of sides queuing to sign him, even if it is only on loan.
